Business Description
Company Description
Sorwathe Ltd is one of Rwanda’s leading tea producers and processors, operating a state-of-the-art tea plantation and factory located in Rulindo District in the Northern Province of Rwanda. Established in 1975, the company has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality Rwandan tea for both domestic and international markets while supporting sustainable agriculture and rural community development.
Sorwathe cultivates and processes tea across more than 2,000 hectares of plantations, working in partnership with thousands of smallholder farmers organized in local cooperatives. The company produces millions of pounds of premium tea annually and exports to markets around the world.
The company is recognized for its pioneering role in Rwanda’s tea industry, including being among the first producers in the country to manufacture orthodox, green, organic, and specialty teas. Its operations follow environmentally responsible practices and are supported by international certifications such as Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance standards.
In addition to tea production, Sorwathe actively contributes to community development through initiatives in education, health care, environmental protection, and rural livelihoods, supporting thousands of farmers and workers across the region.
