Our Strategic Focus Areas

1. Sustainable Agriculture & Land Management

We promote land use consolidation, radical and progressive terracing, climate-resilient farming practices, agroforestry, and forest protection to reduce soil erosion and enhance food security.

Flagship Action:
Construction of 2 hectares of radical terraces in Gahaki Sector, supporting Musanze District soil conservation targets.

2. Conservation Education & Awareness

We strengthen conservation outcomes through:

  • Environmental clubs in schools
  • Community conservation training
  • Public awareness campaigns

Education empowers local communities to become long-term stewards of biodiversity.

3. Ecosystem Restoration

Our restoration work focuses on:

  • Reforestation and afforestation
  • Wetland restoration
  • Tree nursery establishment
  • Land husbandry and erosion control

These interventions restore ecosystem services such as water regulation and soil fertility.

4. Conservation Business

We support income-generating activities that align economic growth with conservation, including:

  • Beekeeping and eco-crafts
  • Organic farming and agroforestry
  • Non-timber forest products
  • Renewable energy solutions

This approach reduces pressure on natural resources while improving livelihoods.

5. Eco-Tourism & Research

ERuDeF Rwanda promotes community-led eco-tourism initiatives such as:

  • Guided forest walks
  • Bird and primate watching
  • Tree planting experiences
  • Low-impact wildlife observation

Eco-tourism creates incentives for conservation while generating sustainable income.
